The Shell ginger is a tropical plant widely used in local traditions. Its name means “for all evils”, in reference to its numerous uses. In particular, it is used in herbal tea to accompany flu conditions, colds or fever, but also to relieve certain digestive disorders such as indigestion, bloating or stomach pain.

This plant enjoys heat, humidity, and rich soil. Like The Alpinia purpurata, it belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. It is also cultivated for its decorative appearance and its pleasant fragrance. You will find it in the magic garden at the entrance of Botanical garden.
